Poll: Professional Services Company – what would you google for Social Media Advice?

November 20, 2009 · 4 comments

After the success of our “Architect” poll I thought I’d try another.

The purpose of this survey is to find out what words Professional Services Companies search for when looking for advice on using Social Media. If you work for or advise a professional services firm, what key words and phrases would you type into google to find good advice?

As before, I’ve set up a simple poll here for you to type in the words which come to mind. If you have a couple of ideas you can enter them all, and you can use your own words.

When we have a good size number of responses, I’ll publish the results.

Please share this poll with others so we can get a good sample!

If you go somewhere already for good social media advice, why not comment below and share your recommendations with other readers?

My initial thought was that the search that people would use would depend on what they indend to use the social media for – communication or marketing -this would result in searches in google for things such as ‘online communication help’ or ‘online marketing help’, also people may just search for specific media, such as ‘facebook help’ or ‘twitter help’…but after I thought further and discussed it with my colleagues I realised that alot of people do not know what ‘Social Media’ is and don’t see it seperate from the ‘internet’ so people would probably search for ‘internet communication help’ or ‘internet marketing help’ – people do not appear to understand what ‘social media’ is unless they use it and even then they don’t see it as a collection of tools, they either see it as ‘the internet’ or a single tool such as twitter, facebook or blog – well thats what I concluded from the question to the people I work with!

Hi Jon,
Really appreciate your considered answer.
Its easy to forget what people outside our sphere of knowledge understand about it. These are the people I’m targetting, so their perspective is invaluable.
Thanks!
