I have been using wave for quite some time and I think it's still not ready for prime time. It is buggy and people are confused on how it can be used. So far the angle of collaboration seems to be the noisiest but it is still in the development stage and we are yet to see how it can turn out to be useful for individual users.
There are some extensions in the wild but none of them are tempting enough. If only there's a way out to integrate Gmail with Wave then I guess more people will use it. I for one won't even mind replacing it with gmail completely.

Here's my two cents :)
