As many of you will know, Mel Stars, sustainability maven and author of the much respected Elemental blog, died suddenly on 14 July.
Over the next few weeks, Mel’s Partner, Mark Fretwell, is cycling the Rhine from its origins in Switzerland to the sea in Holland in her memory and to raise funds for her favourite charity, Cancer Research.
Mark is four days into his trip and is having a rest day today, so he’ll be posting up some of his photographs, but in the last few days reading his blog has been a delight. So far he’s accidentally drifted across the border into Lichtenstein and then into Germany whilst looking for lunch, because he didn’t take a map. So I thought I’d make one for him, hopefully he can at least take a look before he sets off on Monday, as he’s currently in Basel/Basle which borders both on France and Germany! The Schwartzwald is very pretty however, and there should be some very nice cake available for the rest day.
Here’s the map, and don’t forget to subscribe to Mark’s blog to support him, and remember Mel by donating on her JustGiving page here.
