Things are moving on a pace with the ArchitectMap, so its time for an update and some surprises.
What is the ArchitectMap?
The ArchitectMap is a crowdsourced map of construction people and companies who use the social networking platform twitter. Go and have a look at the maps; you’ll be surprised what a community we have on twitter, from architects, through quantity surveyors, structural engineers and arboriculturalists, on to contractors, subcontractors, construction product manufacturers and suppliers.
The map has one simple objective; to help make this online community visible, locally and globally, thereby helping us all to work better together.
Best Useful Tool or Guide: Build Environment App Awards 2012
As you know we launched the iPhone app version of the Architect map earlier this year, and in March the ArchitectMap iPhone App was awarded Best Useful Tool or Guide in the new Built Environment App Awards run by Specifinder, the Building Centre and Woobius.
We’re particularly delighted with the award because, like the map itself, App users chose who won the award, not a jury. We also managed to beat AutoCAD WS and Open House London’s iPhone apps into third and second place! Thank you so much if you voted for us.
Want an Android Version of the App? Please be patient, it’s on the cards…
And here’s our big news:
The Simplest and Cheapest Construction iPhone App?
Mark and I are delighted to announce the next phase of the ArchitectMap iPhone app is a project to give its users their own mini-App.
What is a Mini-App? If you have one in the ArchitectMap, users who click on your pin can launch a whole app of your content, which can include your blog feed, YouTube Channel, About Page, even a map of your projects!
IPhone Mini-apps are available to all members of the ArchitectMap, so if you’re not on it yet, just follow the instructions here for a free entry, after which you can choose a Mini-app if you wish.
Mini-Apps – priced to be affordable, free to Students
If you pop over to the ArchitectMap website you can see our prices for the mini-apps. For individuals the starter pack is just £5, for companies it is £20, but even better, the student starter pack is FREE. Construction students can get a loading page, about page, twitter feed link and blog RSS feed all absolutely free. This is because we want to encourage more students to join the map and keep in touch with each other locally and internationally via the map and twitter.
I want a Free Mini-App!
But what if you’re not a student and you still want a free App? No problem. We are holding a competition…
Design an iPhone Loading Page for your own MiniApp and win a free App!
If you’d like to join our competition, just pop over to our Facebook Page. We’ll be running the competition from there shortly.
We’ve got big plans for the ArchitectMap, and we’re delighted that so many people are getting on board all over the world and thinking about how they can use it. We’d like to hear your ideas too!
