The beginning of June is going to be a very busy time for Just Practising. As well as a great deal of in-house training and consultancy, I’ll be attending some events. Here is more information about them and how you can come along.
3rd June: Death of Journalism – Seminar, London
On the afternoon of 3rd June I’ll be attending the CIMCIG (Chartered institute of Marketing Construction Industry Group) seminar, ‘Death of Journalism’, which will consider the on-going importance of traditional media in building a brand.
As we see our audiences shift from print to digital based media are publishers struggling to develop a profitable business model – and where will this leave journalism if this ultimately means these outlets don’t survive? The event includes an overview by CIB Communications followed by perspectives from the point of view of professional titles, construction weeklies, specialist journals and the national press.
I’ll be live tweeting the event throughout the afternoon on the #CIMCIG hashtag. If you would like to come to the Building Centre to hear about the future of journalism in a digital age, please book your place here.
[Unfortunately the CIBSE Linkedin workshop has had to be postponed to a future date, I’ll let you know when it is rescheduled]
4 June: National Retrofitting Conference, Manchester
On 4th June my client Sustainable Homes hold their annual National Retrofitting Conference in Manchester. The topic this year is ‘Retrofitting for a Future Climate’ and will bring together some of the Housing sector’s most innovative projects, technologies and successful case studies on retrofitting.
I shall be live blogging and tweeting the event, which has sold out for the last two years. If you’re able to be in Manchester on 4th and want to find out more about the current status of retrofitting in the housing sector why not attend? More information about the conference can be found here.
10 June: Sandcastle Competition with Daniel Connal Partnership, Frinton on Sea
For the last three years I’ve taken part in this event which takes place on the beach in Frinton on Sea. Hosted by construction surveyors Daniel Connal Partnership, the sandcastle competition is great fun and attracts architects, solicitors, engineers, contractors and other construction professionals.
This year I’ve been invited to judge the competition! The rules are very simple, it’s a lot of fun (thogh Rose Builders always take it very seriously…). Put together a team and join in or come along and cheer on your favourites. Find out more and how to enter on the DCP website here.
11 June: Social Media Strategy Workshop, London
I’ve been running this year’s public social media workshops at the Building Centre in London, and they’ve been very successful. This blog post is being written at the Blogging workshop!
The 11th June will be the last session before a Summer break, then we’ll be back in the autumn with another group of sessions. More information about this workshop here.
See the whole programme of workshops here, and if you want to find out more about training, including in-house or online, get in touch with me.
