The core of the work I do is to act as a trusted advisor to a range of construction companies on the adoption of social media in their businesses.
I work with companies who want to interact better online and learn how to integrate Social Media tools into their conventional strategies for marketing, PR, recruitment, brand awareness, client retention and so on.
Social Media works best when your prospects can contact the right person directly; but this needs organising. Your staff are your greatest asset in generating business for the company, but they need training, rules and guidance.
My approach as a consultant is to identify where you need external assistance to produce results, and where you have the skills and potential to deliver in house. I then help you get systems in place that will bring the best long-term results.

I recommend the following process and provide services to support or carry out all of these activities:
Audit – find out what is already happening within and outside your company (you will be surprised). An audit will identify where your audience is, avoiding wasted time and resources investing in platforms that won’t produce results.
Strategy – work with your people to develop a strategy and which tools to use. This may include developing the right policies and identifying training for individuals. A strategy workshop will help you identify gaps in what you’re already doing, making sure you ‘join the dots’ and get everything in place.
Build and Implement – set up deliverables – website elements, outposts (like Twitter or a LinkedIn Company Page), social objects (downloads, blog posts, video, guides). Your activities must encourage sharing, drive traffic and generate credibility.
Train – I train how to blog, use WordPress, Twitter and LinkedIn, both in house and public workshops. I also have associates who teach Google Analytics and other tools. Training can be delivered via in-house workshops or key staff can attend my public workshop programme.
Hunting and Farming – Social Media is an ongoing process of interaction between individuals. Learn how to do the right things, efficiently, over a sustained period of time. Your strategy will identify how this fits in with the existing work your people do. After initial training, they may need mentoring for a month or two to develop an approach they can sustain with minimal additional effort.
Review, Maintain and Measure – the most important element. Everything you do online can be measured, but it is essential to identify and measure what matters to your business. I can support your ongoing activities and help keep things working.

Some of my clients choose to use me on an on-going retainer basis (when we agree a monthly fee in advance for a period of 3 months or more). This enables them to draw on me for a set period in a range of ways, as seems appropriate.
Other clients prefer to draw on me occasionally for specific events, such as to speak to the board, deliver a strategy workshop for their marketing team or train their sales staff in LinkedIn. You can employ me for an hour of mentoring a month or anything up from there.
