It is fifteen years since I left the North West of England to come down to London, leaving an academic career to move back into practice. So about time for a brief sojourn back up North methinks.
No better time to do it than next week either, as GreenBuild Expo, the UK’s newest sustainable building and refurbishment event, is taking place on 9th and 10th May.
If you can be in Manchester next week then I urge you to come along – Green Build Expo is free to attend and there are scores of seminars across the two days covering all aspects of sustainability in the built environment.
It is free to register on Greenbuild Expo – just fill out the form here.
Be2camp Session at GreenBuild Expo – with ArchitectMap
From 1pm to 4pm in the Foyer room at GreenBuild Expo on Wednesday 9th there is another bonus, Be2camp are hosting a session on Sustainability and Social Media. Hosted by Martin Brown and Paul Wilkinson, this session will launch the Be2 social media framework for Green Deal as well as showcasing social media applications and uses for a sustainable built environment.
What is the Social Media Framework for Green Deal? It’s a document dedicated to showing how social tools can be used to help implement the Green Deal – for collaboration, research, marketing and information sharing. Come along and find out more.
The free session will also feature live presentations from around the world, from leading US green buildings and practitioners, and from UK social media built environment people.
I’ll be giving a talk about the Architect Map (see our new twitter account here) telling the story of what has happened so far and hoping to discuss how Mark and I can take the project further ready for our next big adventures mapping built environment people online.
The Be2camp session will also feature an open slot, pecha kucha style, for anyone interested in presenting on their use of social media. Want to give 20 slides of your experience? Get in touch with Martin or Paul.
For updates on the session follow @be2camp, @fairsnape or @eepaul on twitter, or follow / search using the #be2atgbe hashtag.
If you’d like to come to the Be2camp event on Wednesday afternoon why not let us know on the Be2camp site too?
Want to know what Be2Camp is? It is a place where built environment people meet web 2.0 techy types to make the world a better place. Read all about it here.
Manchester – Linkedin and Twitter Training, with discounts
If that wasn’t enough, Martin and I are also running a fringe event in Manchester the day before GreenBuild Expo – at MERCi in Ancoats.
We are delivering a beginners Linkedin workshop and a beginners Twitter workshop, both in an afternoon. If you want to use Linkedin and/or twitter to generate business, collaboration partners and get things moving around your areas of interest, this is the course for you. Book on either or both, and if you are registered as a GreenBuild Expo attendee (which is free) you can get a further 10% off the price of either or both workshops.
Read more and Sign up for the Manchester workshops here.
And the last reason for coming along to MERCi on 8th is that we are holding a live GreenBuildExpo Tweetchat* to round off the afternoon, launch the Expo and demonstrate the value of Twitter for fostering productive conversation online. Follow the Tweetchat on #GBExpoChat or why not come along, meet us all and see what a TweetChat looks like in the flesh!
